TODD AO’s

Okay so here is some interesting film history…

Todd-AO is also the name of the widescreen, 70 mm film format that was developed by Mike Todd and the American Optical Company in the mid-1950s. Todd-AO was originally founded to promote and distribute this system. As a cheeky side line they also made anamorphics  and these are the set we have…

Our guys estimate they are most likely from the 1960’s and the lenses match up nicely – warm…

These 2x anamorphics received a technical Oscar for their design, they have great characteristics and a very fast aperture. Noticeably softer than other anamorphics, with a unique heavy flare due to their front anamorphic, they give an awesome look and work great with modern day digital cameras. Nice look to these bad boys…

Apocalypse Now – shot on Todd AO’s… need we say more?
