If Elvis was a DOP – he’d shoot on Master Primes – this much we know as fact.

Danny Cohen – also used them on the Kings Speech spectacular use of Arri’s flag ship lenses, remember the close ups on wide lenses as Firth tries to learn to speak?

Roger Deakins BSC says the following:

“I find the Master Primes excellent wide open. This seems like a true stop to me and the clarity of the lenses is quite remarkable. Highlights bloom a little larger, which is common to all such lenses, and they seems even less prone to a flare/kick on the glass  when stopped down.”

“The entire first night sequence in ‘No Country…’ was shot wide open on the Master Primes. It was the first time I had used them. You can see clearly from the scene the clarity of the lenses and the headlight bloom I am talking about.”
