Tribe7 ‘Amber Skins’

Also available for our Blackwings: Tribe7 ‘Amber Skins’

Many of the most sought-after ‘60s & ‘70s lenses lenses (notably the Canon K35s & FDs) have varying amounts of thorium oxide in the coatings. Over time they tend to take on an amber hue due to the influence of the radioactive decay of thorium on other materials in the glass.

Tribe7 have now released replacement front and back elements that can be fitted by our lens department to our Blackwings, with new (non-radioactive!) coatings, which give an overall warmth and have radically different gold and ruby red flare characteristics. A recent test shot by DoP Olan Collardy can be seen here: https://vimeo.com/720457585

One Stop is the first – and currently the only – rental house in the UK to offer the Amber Skins.
